Kansas Gas Service, through the ONE Gas Foundation, has provided a $70,000 grant, over the course of three years, to Topeka United to support its Mosaic Partner Pairs initiative.
Mosaic Partner Pairs brings together two individuals from diverse backgrounds and guides them through a process of relationship, understanding and trust-building.
Helping Create a More Inclusive Community
“When Topeka United presented the ONE Gas Foundation with the opportunity to fund this unique, peer-to-peer mentoring program, it sparked our interest,” said Lindsay Freeman, manager of Community Relations in Topeka.
“The Mosaic Partner Pairs initiative closely aligns with our value and focus on Inclusion & Diversity and provides opportunities for our employees to become involved,“ said Freeman. “I am proud to work closely with the Topeka United program and look forward to the even greater inclusive community it is helping Topeka become.”
According to Karen Hiller, Topeka City Councilwoman and Topeka United Convenor, contributions from Kansas Gas Service and other local companies help propel Topeka United’s vision of a more diverse and inclusive community.
Breaking Down Barriers to Enrich the Culture
“Based on the feedback that’s been received, we believe these relationships will ultimately break down barriers and enrich the culture of our city and beyond,” said Hiller. “We’re very appreciative of all the funders for their clear commitment to inclusion and diversity in their companies and communities they serve.”
